Welcome to Westchester Ballet Company

Welcome to Westchester Ballet Company (WBC), an esteemed nonprofit youth ballet based in Ossining, New York. Established in 1950 by renowned ballerina and choreographer Iris Merrick, WBC is one of the oldest regional nonprofit ballet companies in the United States.

Approximately 100 youth dancers, aged 6 - 18, from across Westchester and the surrounding region perform with our ballet company each year. Thousands of school children and families enjoy our productions as audience members and participants in our ballet enrichment programs, offered in schools and community centers. We believe that the arts are essential for our youth, and that dance in particular instills confidence, provides foundational well-being, and strengthens our shared community.

HOW WE MAKE AN IMPACT

  • creating performance opportunities for young dancers in professionally produced productions

  • providing financial aid and scholarships for dancers

  • maintaining affordable ticket prices for audience members

  • partnering with other nonprofits serving vulnerable and under-resourced individuals and groups in our community

Our goal is to eliminate financial barriers and make dance more diverse, while also creating meaningful opportunities for young individuals and fostering positive social change in our community.
