The fall audition is the entry point for dancers to join the Company and be cast in Westchester Ballet Company’s professionally-produced Nutcracker.

If selected, a dancer receives an invitation to join the Company, is placed in a ranked position within it, and is offered a role/roles in The Nutcracker. Westchester Ballet Company’s 2024 Nutcracker will be performed on December 13, 14, & 15 at Lehman Center for the Performing Arts.

Auditions are open to all dancers in the community, aged 6-18, no matter where they receive their ballet training, as long as they meet the requirements associated with the rank in which they are placed in the Company. Young dancers in non-pointe roles must be enrolled in a minimum of one ballet class per week at the school of their choice. More advanced dancers, and those performing in pointe roles, are required to take a requisite number of technique and pointe classes that is commensurate with their rank. Classes can be taken at any ballet school.

Dancers must pre-register for auditions by submitting the Registration Form by September 7, 2024. Dancers and parents should prepare for auditions by reading the Audition Guide and previewing the Dancer Agreement. All registrant have the opportunity to prepare for auditions by attending Westchester Ballet Company’s Nutcracker Workshop (August 19-23). This workshop is available at no cost. Dancers will learn/review Nutcracker choreography, working with Director of Staging and Rehearsals, Ms. Sharyn Korey.

11:30 am Arrival Time Dancers Ages 6-8 

12:30 pm Arrival Time Dancers Ages 9-11 

Please arrive promptly, dancers will be checked in upon arrival and must be ready to dance. Dancers will be released throughout the day, there is the potential to be asked to stay as late as 4:00 pm. 

All Dancers should arrive with ballet slippers. Dancers ages 9 and up should also bring character shoes if they already have them.

Dancers age 11 may be invited to attend Sunday’s Audition.

Please arrive promptly, dancers will be checked in upon arrival and must be ready to dance. Dancers will be released throughout the day, there is the potential to be asked to stay as late as 6:00 pm. 

All Dancers should arrive with pointe shoes (if applicable), ballet slippers and character shoes if they already have them.
