Flávia Chi
Flávia’s journey with the Westchester Ballet Company began in 2023 when her daughter, Alice, joined as a student dancer. With a lifelong love for ballet, Flávia quickly became an active volunteer, helping to bring Peter and the Wolf to Grafflin School and playing a key role in organizing the 2024 Benefit Gala. In March 2025, her dedication to WBC’s mission led her to take on a leadership role as Co-Chair of the Resource Development Committee, where she focuses on strengthening fundraising efforts and building community partnerships.
Flávia’s passion for ballet started at the age of five at Ballet Rosana Abubakir in Salvador, Brazil, where she trained in the Cuban method. As part of the corps de ballet, she had the privilege of dancing alongside renowned artists such as Ana Botafogo, Cecilia Kerche, Marcelo Misailidis, Ariel Cisneros, Maximiliano Guerra, and Anita Magyari—experiences that deepened her commitment to the art form. She later expanded her training to include the techniques of Martha Graham and Pina Bausch, performing with Ludmila Pimentel Companhia de Dança and exploring the intersection of dance and digital technologies.
Beyond dance, Flávia holds a degree in Psychology and a Master’s in Psychological Assessment, both earned in Brazil. She believes that the arts, especially ballet, play a crucial role in the lives of children and young people. Being part of a company like WBC at a young age provides invaluable benefits, including discipline, teamwork, self-expression, and confidence. The arts are essential for fostering creativity, emotional intelligence, and cultural awareness, contributing to the overall development and well-being of children.
Flávia envisions a future of growth, inclusivity, and sustainability for WBC, where young dancers can thrive and the joy of ballet continues to inspire future generations.
